Strobe Lights in the Toyota

I recently put some LED strobe lights on my truck. I made the strobes myself. Each strobe has 27 high intensity LEDs. Also each strobe costs about $16 dollars to make. The front strobes are hidden behind the grill and are sealed in a project box. I tied the strobes to the turn signal lights, which I replaced with LEDs.

I also replaced the gauge cluster with one that has a Tachometer. The new one has white faced gauges, and red LED lighting behind it.

“New” Truck">New” Truck

Just bought a new to me Toyota Truck.  It is a green 1998 Toyota Tacoma SR5 Extra Cab.  Specs as follows: 3.4 V6 engine, 5 speed manual trans, 4 wheel drive, manual locking hubs, and 31 inch tires.

I will upload pictures later.

A+ Certified and ITEC

I finally took the A+ test last week, and passed.  I have been meaning to take that test for a long time, but never got around to it.  I made a 750 on the first test, and 865 on the second.  I plan on taking the Network+ next.

The Technology department went to the ITEC trade show in Charlotte on the 25th.  There was about 20 vendors, and a few cool products.  But it was not a very impressive show.

Laptop Resurrection

I have been resurrecting an old laptop of mine this past week.  It is my longest living laptop, since 2001.  It is a Toshiba Satellite 1755, with a 700MHz Intel Celeron and 192MB of RAM.  I am still debating on what to do with it.  I might make a wall computer out of it, or mount it in my kitchen somewhere.

The laptop had broke screen brackets, which my dad had welded back together in 2004.  I gave the laptop to my mom after I got my Dell Inspiron 5100.  About a year ago the back light went out in the LCD, so I had to rob a light out of a parts laptop I had laying around.  The laptop still gets about an hour and a half of battery time.

New Tower

I got me a “new” tower for my house.  It is slightly used, but in good condition.  It is a 50 foot galvanized guyed tower.  It will replace the telescoping pole that I use for my HAM radio antenna and my wireless internet.  I plan on putting it up some time this summer.

Here is a few snapshots of my current setup and the new tower still on the trailer.

Hibriten Mountain

I went up on Hibriten Mountain today to work on an air conditioner at one of our tower sites.  Took some pictures of the view.  I also got some pictures of the new Google Data Center, but I don’t think they would like me to post them.  I have more pictures from Hibriten over on my Flickr page.

Google

Just got back from the Google data center grand opening in Lenoir, NC.  We didn’t get to tour any of the buildings, but we did get to be on site where we could at least see the top of the data center.  We were not allowed to bring any cameras or camera phones.
